Wives of Rohtak PGIMS officials drew salaries without performing duty; reveals probe

An inquiry by the local office of the CM Flying Squad has revealed that three individuals employed through a private outsourcing agency at PGIMS in Rohtak were drawing salaries without performing any work.

Two of them have been identified as wives of PGIMS employees holding key positions, while the third is the wife of an official from the outsourcing firm.

According to the inquiry report, one individual received over Rs 1.68 lakh in wages for 11-month period, another more than Rs 1.16 lakh and the third over Rs 2.5 lakh.

The report also noted that one of the PGIMS employees was responsible for verifying the attendance of outsourced staff.

In a striking revelation, the report claimed that the wife of one of the two employees drew wages from six different departments, while the other received payments from four departments, despite not performing any duties.

All these facts came to light after Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR) recently submitted its action taken report to the Additional Director General of Police (CID), Haryana, based on the findings of the inquiry.

As per UHSR report, all three outsourced employees have been debarred from further deployment in the PGIMS by the firm. The authorities have even started a process to verify the wages paid to the employees through their bank accounts. Show-cause notices have also been issued to them in light of findings of the inquiry report.

Besides them, the UHSR authorities have also chargesheeted three other regular employees of the PGIMS in connection with the fake verification of attendance.

The CM Flying Squad had conducted the inquiry following a written complaint by three former outsourced employees of the firm last year.

The complainants alleged that family members and close relatives of certain university/PGIMS officials were employed through the firm, raising concerns about possible misuse of official position. They further claimed that attendance records of outsourced employees were verified by unauthorised personnel, in violation of the terms and conditions.

The CM Flying Squad then submitted its report to the ADGP (CID), following which the Department of Medical Research and Education asked the UHSR authorities to fix responsibility on the officials concerned and submit an ATR to the CID.
