He said he had cleared his previous bill of Rs 14,000 on November 9, but received a new bill of Rs 32,000 for just over a month.

CCTV footage showed the electricity team removing the meter around 1:30 pm while Rohtash was not at home.

Rohtash visited the sub-division office in the evening to clarify the issue. There, he met JE Kamlesh and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO). After arguing over the bill, the JE, in anger, threw her shoe at Rohtash, which hit his cellphone. She then called the police. Rohtash’s wife, Sunita, said they had gone to resolve the issue of the high bill when the shoe was thrown at her husband. The JE said the electricity corporation was conducting a recovery campaign. The consumer’s meter was removed because his bill was pending. Kamlesh said Rohtash became aggressive and entered the office, forcing her to call the police. The SDO said the meter removal and the dispute happened during the recovery campaign and a police complaint had been filed in this regard.
