FARIDABAD: A 25-year-old woman was killed after she allegedly jumped before a moving Metro rail near the Ajronda station here on Saturday. The local police have sought public help to identify the victim.

The local police have sought public help to identify the victim. The incident took place around 1.10 pm when the woman jumped before the Metro train coming from the Delhi side and moving towards Ballabgarh. She had Rs 90 in cash, a Metro Rail token and a water bottle with her. "As she was not carrying any mobile phone or any document, her identity is yet to be established," said Sube Singh, a police spokesperson. The woman was wearing a green and pink salwar suit and had henna on both hands, he added. TNS

Man gets 7-year jail for rape attempt 

Kurukshetra: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Lal Chand has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for attempting to rape a minor girl. The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Binder, who had attempted to rape a six-year-old girl on November 12, 2018. The minor girl's mother, a resident of Shahabad, in her complaint to the police had alleged that her daughter was playing in the street when the accused took her to a vacant house and attempted to rape her. However, she reached there in time but the accused fled on seeing her. Binder was held guilty under Section 10 of the POCSO Act and sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. TNS

Panipat youth drowns in Yamuna 

Panipat: A 20-year-old-youth drowned in the Yamuna near the Sanoli area on Saturday. He along with other youths  had jumped into the river  to save three women who had gone into deep waters while having a bath. The deceased has been identified as Ashu (20), son of Ramratan of Sai Colony in the city. Sources said scores of people had reached the Yamuna to take a bath on the occasion of Budh Purnima. Ashu, along with his friend Satyawan was also there when three women went into deep waters and started shouting for help. Ashu and some youths jumped into the river to save them. The women were saved but Ashu failed to swim back to safety. TNS
