Residents of Dashmesh Nagar in Sirsa have been facing severe water supply issues for the past six months, prompting a group of local women to stage a protest on Thursday. Frustrated with the lack of action, they blocked Kanganpur Road, demanding immediate resolution.

The women explained that despite filing several complaints, no action had been taken to fix the issue. The lack of water has disrupted their daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and bathing. Many residents had been buying water tanks costing Rs 600 to Rs 800, but even the water suppliers have stopped coming due to the poor condition of roads in Dashmesh Nagar. The damaged roads have also made it difficult for essential services, like milk and gas cylinder deliveries, to reach the area. Frustrated locals have appealed to the authorities to restore the water supply, warning that they will continue protesting until their demands are met. The police arrived at the scene to try and convince the women to end the blockade, but the protesters remained firm, saying they would not leave until the water supply issue was resolved.

The women also criticised the local municipal councillor, accusing him of claiming that nothing could be done, and they lashed out at the ruling party leaders for ignoring their concerns. They warned that if the situation did not improve, they would boycott future elections, even threatening to harm those leaders who would come to seek votes.

The roadblock caused a lot of inconvenience to pedestrians and drivers. After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and tried to convince the protesters, but the women refused to lift the blockade until regular water supply was restored. They said there was not a single drop of water in their homes and the officials were not answering their calls. The protest was ongoing at the time the news was written.
