X-ray facility launched at casualty ward in Rohtak PGIDS
The Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences (PGIDS), Rohtak, has introduced round-the-clock dental X-ray facility at its emergency ward.
Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor, Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), demonstrated the new service by performing the first digital X-ray of a patient in the emergency department. “With the introduction of this facility, dental professionals will be able to assess the cause of pain instantly through an X-ray and begin treatment without delay,” Dr Agarwal added.
An official explained that dental treatment often relies heavily on X-ray reports for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. While emergency services were previously available at the PGIDS, they were limited to cases where treatment could be administered without the need for an X-ray.
“In several cases, doctors were unable to provide care for patients suffering from conditions that required an X-ray to determine the underlying issues. With the introduction of new 24-hour X-ray facility, doctors will now be able to extend comprehensive treatment to all emergency dental patients, ensuring prompt and effective care for a wider range of dental problems, including those that require diagnostic imaging,” he added.
Dr SK Singhal, Director, PGIMS, Rohtak, said this X-ray service would help in providing quick and accurate diagnoses.
Dr Kundan Mittal, Medical Superintendent, PGIMS, said, “Dental emergencies like toothaches are common. Now, with the availability of X-ray facility, we can perform root canal therapy even at night.” Dr Sanjay Tiwari, Principal, PGIDS, said, “Our aim is to offer the best health services to patients. With this new facility, we can provide 24x7 emergency dental care.”
He said the patients would no longer have to endure pain while waiting for treatment. He encouraged those with serious dental issues to immediately seek assistance at the emergency dental clinic.
