The Department of Punjabi at Guru Nanak Girls College organised a one-day multidisciplinary national seminar to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
The seminar was presided over by the president of the college management committee, Mahant Karamjit Singh, along with general secretary MS Sawhney, director Dr Varinder Gandhi and principal Dr Sukhwinder Kaur.
Keynote speakers included Dr Jaspal Kaur Kang, professor of Eminence at Guru Granth Sahib University; Dr Kuldeep Singh, chairperson, Department of Punjabi, Kurukshetra University; Dr Manjinder Singh, professor and head, School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University; Dr Manmohan, former IPS officer and professor of Eminence at Guru Nanak Dev University; Dr Praveen Kumar, Department of Punjabi, CDOE, Panjab University; and Dr Chuhar Singh, principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa (PG) College.
The seminar sought to highlight the historical, spiritual and humanitarian significance of the Guru’s martyrdom. Speakers emphasised his spiritual philosophy, his unique sacrifice in defence of religious freedom and his steadfast commitment to human rights.
