Yamunanagar-Jagadhri civic body passes Rs 273.38 crore budget for 2026-27

The Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has passed a budget of Rs 273.38 crore for the financial year 2026-27.

The budget was approved at a meeting of the corporation held under the chairmanship of Mayor Suman Bahamani. Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner Preeti, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar and senior accounts officer Krishan Jain were also present.

“This budget of the MCYJ will accelerate development in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri,” said Mayor Suman Bahamani.

Dheeraj Kumar said the MCYJ had passed a budget of Rs 262.95 crore for the financial year 2025-26. He added that it had been increased to Rs 273.38 crore this year, which was Rs 10.43 crore higher than last year.

“In terms of revenue, the MCYJ has received about Rs 214.92 crore up to January 2026 from various sources, including property tax, rent, fees, fines and challans,” said Kumar.

He said the MCYJ had fixed an expenditure budget of Rs 262.72 crore last year and spent about Rs 161.65 crore up to January 2026 on various heads, including salaries, pensions, development works, sanitation and waste management.

“A total of Rs 272.92 crore will be spent in the financial year 2026-27. Of the total budget, Rs 124.37 crore will be spent on development works, cleanliness and waste management,” he added.

“Rs 34 crore will be spent on cleanliness and waste management. This includes door-to-door garbage collection, repair and maintenance of MC vehicles and machinery, the MRF centre and other works. Similarly, Rs 90.35 crore will be spent on development works, including construction of streets, community centres, MC buildings and other projects,” said Kumar.

The Mayor and DC urged councillors and officers to coordinate with each other and ensure proper utilisation of budget for development works.
