Yamunanagar DC chairs child welfare panel meeting

A meeting of the District Child Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Preeti here on Thursday.

The main objective of this meeting was to review various schemes and arrangements related to the protection, welfare and rights of children.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Preeti conducted a detailed review of child protection, elimination of child labour, prevention of child marriage and the status of child care institutions. She also paid special attention to the progress of the Child Helpline and prompt action in sensitive cases.

Ashok Kumar, chairman of Child Welfare Committee, while discussing the safe environment, education, health and mental development of children in Child Care Institutions operating in the district, said that he had encouraged all departments concerned to work in coordination and ensure timely and effective action in identified cases.

The meeting emphasised the regular monitoring of child protection cases, the conduct of awareness programmes and active supervision at the grassroots level. Child Welfare Committee members Sushil Gulati, Poonam Agarwal, Advocate Monica, Acting District Child Protection Officer Ranjan Sharma and Gaurav Sharma were present on the occasion.
