He announced that the youth Congress will stage a massive protest and gherao the HPSC chairperson office in Panchkula on February 17. He said Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda and national president of Indian Youth Congress Uday Bhanu Chib will lead the protest.
“Under the BJP government’s rule, scams are being carried out in the recruitments conducted by the HPSC. There is a lack of transparency and deserving youth are being denied justice. Thousands of young aspirants across the state have been preparing for government jobs for years, but irregularities in recruitment processes have left their future uncertain,” said Kataria while interacting with mediapersons at Jat Dharamshala on Wednesday.
He alleged that the state government has failed to provide adequate employment opportunities to local youth. “The BJP government is snatching the rights of our youth. Young people from Haryana are being forced to migrate abroad through risky ‘donkey routes’ and are returning back in chains, while outsiders are getting jobs here,” he claimed.
Accompanied by youth district president Rajat Lather, former MLA Bakshish Singh Virk and other senior leaders, youth Congress state president Kataria demanded an impartial judicial probe into all controversial recruitment cases and strict action against those found guilty.
Kataria said the protest is aimed at safeguarding the rights of Haryana’s youth, which he alleged are being compromised under the BJP-led state government. Youth Congress would not remain silent on issues of unemployment and recruitment-related grievances.
Raising the issue of illegal colonies, Kataria alleged that unauthorised colonies were being developed across the state without basic infrastructure and facilities, leaving common citizens vulnerable.
Kataria further claimed that BJP leaders themselves were involved in promoting such colonies. He demanded an immediate crackdown on illegal developments and relief for affected families.
Speaking on the issue of old-age pensions, Kataria accused the government of insensitivity towards senior citizens. He alleged that many elderly beneficiaries were not receiving pensions on time and that several eligible names had been removed from the beneficiary list.
“Old-age pension is not a favour. It is a basic support system for our senior citizens. Denying or delaying pensions reflects the government’s insensitive approach. The elderly have the right to live with dignity,” he said.
He urged the government to restore the names of eligible beneficiaries and ensure timely disbursement of pensions.
