Competing against top players from around the world, he secured third place and won a bronze medal for India.

Nihal, studying computer science at Bennett University, Greater Noida, dream of winning a gold medal for India in the next championship. “My family always stood by me and motivated me,” he said.

His father Kulwinder Singh, mother Rajni, sister Dr Bhavya, and brother Anmol Chaddha said they were overwhelmed with emotion after his victory. “We are very proud of him. When he won third place, we had tears of joy. For us, this bronze medal is no less than gold,” they said.
