Shimla, September 2

The Executive Council of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), which met here today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Sikander Kumar, approved to fill around 80 posts in teaching and non-teaching cadre.

The Executive Council accepted the recommendations of the committee to regularise employees working in the university, Regional Centre, Dharamsala, and the faculty of the UIT, the UILS and BBA/BCA.

The meeting observed a two-minute silence to mourn the death of former President Pranab Mukherjee. The Executive Councilalso approved the recommendations of the selection committee to appoint chairpersons of five chairs.

Dr Hari Mohan will head Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Chair, Dr Manoj Chaturvedi — Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Chair; Dr Om Prakash Sharma — Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar Chair; Dr Dinesh Sharma — Keshav Baliram Hedgevar Chair; and Prof Shree Ram Sharma will head Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee Chair.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretary (Education) Akshay Sood, Director, Higher Education, Dr Amar Jeet Singh, former Pro-Vice Chancellor NK Shard, former Dean of Studies VP Sharma, SS Chauhan, Dr Neera Walia, Dr Ashu Gupta and Bipin Kumar.
