A solid waste plant centre worth Rs 1.5 crore is being set up in the Baijnath-Paprola Nagar Panchayat in a bid to find a permanent solution to the disposal of garbage.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Animal Husbandry, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj) Kishori Lal on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the construction work of a solid waste plant center and children’s garden in Baijnath.

He said garbage disposal was a huge problem for every sector and the state government was making serious efforts for the scientific disposal of garbage. The modern plant was being established in Baijnath-Paprola area in this regard, he added.

As per the order of the High Court, and with the conscious cooperation of the people, the state government had released about Rs. 2.25 crore for setting up a waste disposal plant in Baijnath-Paprola area. In the first phase, Rs 1.5 crore had been released for modern waste disposal plant and Rs 25 lakh for the Bal Vatika, he said, adding that the e houses for the solid waste management plant workers would also be constructed in the area. The work of the solid waste plant centre would be completed in a phased manner.

In the first phase, a shed for wet waste is set to be built, in which a machine would be installed to make compost. In the second and third phase, dry waste shed and a children’s garden would be constructed, he said. The CPS said strengthening the infrastructure for the convenience of the people in Baijnath constituency was one of the priorities of the current government. Efforts were being made to carry forward the development works in Baijnath Assembly constituency as per the public aspirations and demand of the area, he said.
