10 arrested for gambling at hotel in McLeodganj
The police recovered Rs 1,40,540 in cash from the spot along with 11 packs of playing cards
The Kangra district police in McLeodganj have arrested 10 persons for allegedly gambling at a hotel in the hill town. Bir Bahadur, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), said a team from the Mcleodganj police station was on routine patrol when they received specific information that some individuals were betting on cards in room number 304 of Hotel Barsain Residency. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police conducted a raid at the hotel room.
During raid, 10 persons were found allegedly engaged in gambling. The police recovered Rs 1,40,540 in cash from the spot along with 11 packs of playing cards, which were seized.
All the accused were taken into custody and later booked at the McLeodganj police station under Sections 3 and 4 of the Public Gambling Act, 1867. The ASP said further investigation was underway in this connection.
