105 pilots to compete in Paragliding World Cup

The Paragliding World Cup Championship began today at Bir Billing, with 105 pilots cleared to participate by the Paragliding World Cup Association (PWCA). These pilots were selected from 148 applicants across 32 countries who registered on the PWCA’s online portal. After extensive review, the final list was approved just last night, allowing the selected pilots to participate in the week-long event.

In preparation for the event, members of the PWCA and the Bir Billing Paragliding Association (BPA) held a safety meeting with key stakeholders to establish strict safety measures aimed at reducing paragliding accidents. BPA president Anurag Sharma emphasised the need for compliance with international Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimise mishaps. According to the SOPs, only experienced pilots are permitted to fly solo or operate tandem flights. Sharma expressed optimism, noting that adherence to safety protocols could significantly lower the risk of accidents.
