106 roads closed in Himachal; more rains likely till Aug 16; orange, yellow warnings issued

As many as 106 roads continue to remain blocked across the state, while about 66 transformers and 19 water supply schemes also remain disrupted after being damaged due to torrential rains.
As per the State Emergency Operation Centre, of the total blocked roads, 40 are in Kullu, 38 in Mandi, nine in Shimla, six in Sirmaur, five in Kangra, and four each in Chamba and Una. Similarly, of the total disrupted transformers, 63 are in Mandi and three in Shimla. Besides, of the total disrupted water supply schemes, 12 are in Shimla, five in Hamirpur and two in Bilaspur.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is very likely to continue across the state till August 16, for which orange and yellow alerts have been issued by the State Meteorological Centre. For August 11, orange alerts have been issued for Kangra and Mandi, with very heavy to heavy rain likely at isolated places in these districts throughout the day. There is also a possibility of landslides and flash floods at vulnerable places.
Additionally, yellow alerts have been issued for Shimla, Solan, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Chamba, with heavy rain likely at isolated places throughout the day. Light to moderate rain is also expected in the rest of the state. While minimum temperatures are expected to remain normal, maximum temperatures are very likely to drop by 2°C to 4°C in the next few days.
Heavy rain was also witnessed at isolated places across the state during the past 24 hours. Dharamshala received 61.1 mm, Paonta Sahib 43.8 mm, Shimla 40.8 mm, Bilaspur and Kufri 19.2 mm each, Mandi 5.2 mm and Manali 2 mm.
The maximum temperature in Shimla was 20.8°C, Dharamshala 27°C, Manali 24.2°C, Solan 26°C, Kangra 30.2°C, Mandi 29.8°C, Sundernagar 29.4°C, Una 32.4°C, Bilaspur 30°C, Hamirpur 31.7°C, Kufri 18.4°C, Kalpa 24.4°C, Nahan 26.3°C, Keylong 26.3°C and Chamba 30.4°C.
The highest maximum temperature in the state was 32.6°C, recorded in Bhuntar in Kullu district, while the lowest minimum temperature was 12.2°C, recorded in Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti.
