Around 170 passengers, including three children, who had travelled along with three Covid-19 patients from Delhi to Nalagarh and Hamirpur on March 18 and 19 in two Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses are under the scanner of the health authorities.

Asked to self-isolate

  • 50 passengers had travelled in HRTC bus (HP 93 0564) from Delhi to Nalagarh on March 18

  • 119 had taken another bus (HP 12 0446) from Delhi to Hamirpur via Baddi-Bilaspur route on March 18-19

  • While drivers, conductors and linked staff are being examined, police have asked all passengers to self-isolate

The three Tablighi Jamaat members, who tested positive for Covid, had travelled in two buses (HP 93 0564 and HP 12 0446) on March 18 from Delhi to Nalagarh. They had tested positive for Covid-19 on April 4 and are under treatment at the IGMC, Shimla.

One of the two buses (HP 93 0564) used by the Covid patients was bound for Nalagarh and had departed from Delhi at 7.30 am on March 18. It reached Nalagarh around 4 pm on March 19. The other bus bound for Hamirpur through the Baddi-Nalagarh-Bilaspur route had left Delhi around 9.30 pm on March 18 and reached Nalagarh around 4.30 am on March 19, said Baddi SP Rohit Malpani.

As many as 50 passengers, including three children, had travelled in the bus from Delhi to Nalagarh for various destinations on March 18, as per the list provided by the HRTC to the police. The Palampur SDM has been requested to get the conductor and a current booking counter employee medically examined at Palampur, while the driver had been put under home isolation by the Una district administration.

The police has asked all other passengers of the bus to get themselves medically examined and remain in home quarantine, said Malpani.

As many as 119 passengers had travelled by the second bus to destinations such as Ambala, Chandigarh, Nalagarh, Baddi, Khera, Mehatpur, Una, Selewal, Dhana, Bunga, Dabhota, Mehatpur, Kiratpur, Anandpur, Kangu, Hamirpur, Bangana, Dhaneta and various places in Una, Hamirpur and the Baddi-Nalagarh industrial belt.

The driver and conductor as well as the reliever driver were medically examined at Una, Hamirpur and Nalagarh on the orders of the Baddi police. Another staffer at the current booking window at Delhi too was tested at RML Hospital in Delhi. Their test reports are awaited.

The Baddi police have urged all those who had travelled by these two buses to stay in self-quarantine.
