19 Odisha officials attend training on organic farming at Palampur agricultural university

CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, organised a five-day exposure-cum-training programme on organic and natural farming for Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ officers of the State Bio-Chemist Wing, Department of Agriculture and Food Production, Bhubaneswar in Odisha, under the aegis of the Department of Organic Agriculture and Natural Farming. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor AK Panda. Nineteen agricultural officials from five districts of Odisha participated in the training programme. The delegation comprised two Principals, one Deputy Director (Agriculture), one Joint Director (Agriculture), three Assistant Directors (Agriculture), one Agriculture District Officer, seven Assistant Agriculture Officers and four Block Agriculture Officers.

The Department of Agriculture and Food Production, Government of Odisha, sponsored the programme under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana. During the training programme, experts delivered lectures on various aspects of organic and natural farming.

The delegates visited research farms of various departments of the university and farmers’ fields in adjoining areas to gain practical exposure to sustainable agricultural practices. — OC
