2 arrested with 4.6-kg charas in Dalhousie

The operation was led by Dalhousie Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDPO) Mayank Sharma. A police team had set up a naka and was conducting routine checking of suspicious vehicles and individuals on NH-154A in the Lahar area.
During the checking, the police stopped a taxi bearing a temporary registration number. Acting on suspicion, the police conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered 4.6-kg charas from the possession of the occupants.
Ram Dayal and Balak Ram, residents of Bharada village in Churah tehsil of Chamba district, were arrested on the spot.
The DSP confirmed the seizure and the subsequent arrest. “A case has been registered at the Dalhousie police station under Sections 20, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act and both accused have been arrested. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and its intended destination,” he added.
