2 drug peddlers arrested with 64 grams of heroin in Shimla
Police received a tip-off that several individuals travelling towards Shimla from Shoghi would be carrying a large contraband of heroin
In a significant catch, two drug peddlers have been arrested with 64 grams of chitta (heroin) in Shimla, police said here on Monday.
The accused have been identified as Karan Verma and Karan Kumar, both aged 30 and residents of Shimla.
According to police, they received a tip-off that several individuals travelling towards Shimla from Shoghi would be carrying a large contraband of heroin, which they intend to sell to local youth.
Taking swift action, a police team, which was already patrolling near Taradevi, stopped the vehicle for checking. During the checking, police found the contraband from their possession, which they had kept hidden inside their vehicle.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh confirmed the report and said a case under section 21 and 29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, has been registered against the accused and further investigation is going on.
