2 killed, 4 injured as vehicle falls into gorge in Chamba

All affected were residents of Punjab’s Jalandhar

Two tourists, including a woman, were killed and four others injured after a tourist vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district late Friday night.

The accident occurred near Gandhi Chowk on the Dalhousie-Karelnu road, where the vehicle reportedly went out of control and skidded off the slippery road before falling into a gorge. There were six people in the vehicle, all residents of Punjab’s Jalandhar. They had come to Dalhousie for a trip.

Rescue teams reached the spot soon after the incident.

Police said two tourists died on the spot, while the four injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. One of the injured, stated to be critical, has been referred to Pathankot for advanced treatment.

Chamba Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani said a case had been registered and an investigation was under way.
