2 water supply schemes restored

Shimla Jal Prabadhan Nigan (SJPN) of the Shimla Municipal Corporation on Tuesday restored the two major water schemes of Giri and Guma, but the two other schemes - Chair and Koti-Banrandi – were yet to be restored.

Pumping of water from Giri and Guma could not start on Monday due to the high silt level in these rivulets caused by flash floods. The water pipelines of the Koti Barandi scheme were submerged in the flash floods and a portion of the pipelines was breached and washed away. The scheme gives three MLD of water a day, said Dharmender Gill, SE and chief executive office of the nigam. — TNS
