Chamba, April 14
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today announced that a Rs 25 crore ropeway would be constructed from the new bus stand to Chamba Chowgan here and the project proposal had been sent to the Central Government for approval.
Thakur said that efforts would be made to bring Chamba under the UDAN scheme so that flights could be started from Chamba to Shimla and Chandigarh.
He dedicated 22 development projects worth Rs 73 crore and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 123 crore in the Chamba constituency.
Thakur, while addressing a public meeting at chowgan, announced the opening of sub-tehsil and a Jal Shakti division at Saho, upgrade of government primary schools at Guward, Dhanoti, Tadoli, Bhujja, Saar, Parel and Chhaterdi to middle schools, upgrade of government high schools at Kaded, Raan and Oda to senior secondary schools, opening of a veterinary dispensary at Dhabrain and health sub-centres at Palhuin, Kaila and Kakian and starting of science classes at government senior secondary schools at Mangla and Jadera.
The Chief Minister said that the Union Government had selected Chamba as an aspirational district to provide special funds to accelerate the pace of development.
He said that the state government was also focusing on the development of Chamba district. He added that despite heavy snowfall this season, the government ensured uninterrupted power supply to the district. The Central Government had provided a special assistance of Rs 800 crore to the state.
Thakur said that the Central Government had provided a Rs 2,100 crore project for tourism development in the state. Kangra MP Kishan Kapoor and local MLA Pawan Nayyar also spoke on the occasion. Bhattiyat MLA Vikram Singh Jaryal, Bharmour MLA Jia Lal Kapoor were also present.
The Chief Minister honoured Padma Shri awardee Lalita Vakil, Black Belt karate winner Neelam Kumari, kabaddi player Champa Thakur and Dr Needhkia by presenting them a shawl and a Himachali cap.
