In an effort to boost religious, spiritual and cultural tourism in Himachal Pradesh, the Chintpurni Temple Trust has decided to organise a three-day ‘Mata Shree Chintpurni Mahotsav’, said Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, who is also the chairman of the Temple Trust.

A meeting of district level officials was held at the Mai Das Sadan, the multi-purpose tourism complex in Chintpurni today.

The DC said the fair will be organised from September 14 to 16, adding that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced the festival during his recent visit to Chintpurni. He said during this maiden festival, a colourful procession will be taken out from the temple to the premises of Amb SDM Office and later to the site of the festival.

Jatin Lal said a booklet, describing the history, beliefs, culture, traditions and religious practices related to the shrine will also be released and cultural events, besides traditional sports competitions will be held during the fair. He added that Additional Deputy Commissioner will be designated as the Mela Officer, while Amb SDM will be the Mela Coordinator and Una SP will be the Mela Sports in-charge.

The DC said sports and cultural events will also be organised in different parts of the district throughout September. He added that adventure sports events will be organised at Ramlila ground in Amb, while cultural events,and other competitions will be held at Government Senior Secondary School, Amb. The DC said exhibitions showcasing various government schemes will also be put up during the festival.
