3 dead, 2 Injured as vehicle plunges into gorge in Shimla's Rampur
Accident occurred on Bahlidhar-Chiksa link road when driver lost control of the vehicle
Three people, including two women, were killed while two others sustained serious injuries after a Bolero Camper skidded into a 200-meter-deep gorge near Bahlidhar village under Rampur Subdivision, Shimla district.
The deceased have been identified as Kapil Dev (41), resident of Chiksa village in Rampur; Urmila Devi (40) and Pushpa Devi (67), both residents of Majhali village in Rampur. The injured, Leela Devi (41) and Rakesh Kumar (39), are also from Chiksa village and are undergoing treatment.
The accident occurred late on Friday evening on the Bahlidhar-Chiksa link road, when Kapil, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle plunged into a deep gorge, killing three on the spot.
Later, a Rampur police team reached the spot and, with the assistance of locals, rescued the injured and recovered the bodies from the gorge. The injured and deceased were taken to Mahatma Gandhi Medical Service Complex, Khaneri, in Rampur.
Officials said a case has been registered and further investigation is under way. According to authorities, Kapil, who worked as a milk supplier, was returning home and had given a lift to the other occupants.
