The state reported five new Covid cases today, three in Kangra and two in Mandi, taking the number of positive cases to 345, including 212 active cases.

The infected persons in Kangra district were kept in home quarantine. All had returned to the district last week and were asymptomatic.

Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati, said a former serviceman, working with the Delhi Transport Corporation, from Bairghatta under Dheera at Dharamsala, tested positive. He had returned from Delhi on May 30 and was in home quarantine.

Another person, resident of Sunehar in Kangra subdivision, had arrived on May 27 by car and was asymptomatic. He has also testes positive for coronavirus. He is an employee of the Delhi Police.

The third patient was a girl student, who is a resident of Bhaniara village in Shahpur. She had also arrived from Delhi by a flight on May 26 and was asymptomatic. With this, the number of cases in the district has risen to 90, including 57 active cases.

Two infected in Mandi

Two youths of Jogindernagar tested Covid-19 positive at medical college, Nerchowk, in Mandi.

The Chief Medical Officer, Mandi (CMO), Dr Jeevanand Chauhan, said, “The youths were kept in quarantine centres in Jogindernagar and were asymptomatic. They have been shifted to Covid Care Centre at Dhangasidhar, Mandi.”

The CMO said one patient had arrived at Jogindernagar from Pune on May 19. His sample was taken earlier which had come out to be negative. The second sample was taken on May 31 for a re-examination and his report was found positive.

At the same time, the second youth had returned from Indore by a taxi with his two friends. He reached at Jogindernagar on May 23.

He said with the two cases, there are nine active cases in Mandi district.

The number of coronavirus cases in the state has risen to 345. The active cases are 212, while 124 patients have recovered. Five have died of the infection, the officials said.
