Three persons were killed and one sustained serious injuries after a carrier vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in the Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district in the early hours of Sunday.
The accident occurred when a carrier vehicle (HP 65/5148) was on its way from Silibagi to Lambathach along the Lambathach-Kalahani road. Near a sharp bend, locally known as the Bada Mod, the driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into a steep gorge.
Out of the four occupants travelling in the vehicle, three died on the spot due to the severe impact, while one person was critically injured. The deceased have been identified as Hardik Thakur of Rahidhar village, Sunil Kumar of Thunag and Ishan Thakur of Tharjoon, Kelodhar, in Mandi.
The injured has been identified as Kushal Singh, a resident of Kelodhar village in Mandi. His condition is reported to be serious.
