50 growers undergo training in organic, natural farming at Palampur agri varsity
Experts provide practical insights on natural farming inputs and demonstrate the preparation and use of Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Eupatorium extract, and other organic formulations for improving soil health and crop productivity
More than 50 farmers from Bhawarana, Panchrukhi and Palampur blocks took part in a one-day training programme on ‘Organic and Natural Farming’ for farmers of Kangra district organised by Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur, sponsored by the Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (RCNOF), Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Janardan Singh, Head of the Department of Organic Agriculture and Natural Farming of the university, inaugurated the training programme. He emphasised the importance of organic and natural farming and highlighted the role of livestock-based resources and scientifically developed natural farming practices for sustainable production.
Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar Panda said that organic and natural farming were essential for sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and enhancing farmers’ income. He reiterated that the university was committed to empowering farmers through scientific training, capacity-building and promotion of eco-friendly farming practices to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability in Himachal Pradesh.
Kshitij Kumar, Training Coordinator, RCNOF, Ghaziabad, informed farmers about the objectives of the training programme and ongoing initiatives of RCNOF in promoting organic and natural farming across the country. Rameshwar, Principal Scientist, welcomed the dignitaries and participants and delivered a lecture on package and practices of organic and natural farming. Gopal Katna, Principal Scientist, delivered a lecture on marketing strategies of organic and natural produce and selection of suitable crop varieties under natural farming systems. Rakesh Chauhan also provided practical insights on natural farming inputs and demonstrated the preparation and use of Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Eupatorium extract, and other organic formulations for improving soil health and crop productivity.
