As many as nine drug peddlers were arrested in the district on Saturday for their involvement in the supply of ‘chitta’. Police teams apprehended the accused from three different locations and recovered nearly 20 gm of the narcotic from their possession. The operation began with a search at a guest house-cum-restaurant at Mattan Sidh near the town, which also led to the arrest of an employee of a nationalised bank.

SP Balbir Thakur said all accused were produced before the court, which sent them to four-day police custody.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
