The district-level Himachal Day celebration was organised with great enthusiasm and dignity at the Police Ground in Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti district on Wednesday. The event was presided over by Ayush, Youth Services and Sports and Law Minister Yadvinder Goma, who unfurled the national flag and took the salute of an impressive march past presented by various contingents.
Addressing a gathering, the minister paid tributes to the leaders of the Prajamandal movement, freedom fighters and all those who contributed to the formation of the state, as well as to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation.
Goma said over the past three years, the state government had been working with a vision of systemic transformation aimed at development and public welfare. He emphasised that despite limited resources and repeated natural disasters between 2023 and 2025, the government provided enhanced relief packages to affected families.
He also noted that all 10 guarantees made during the Assembly elections have been fulfilled, including the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for 1.36 lakh employees and the launch of the Rs 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Startup Scheme to promote self-reliance among youth. Focusing on Lahaul-Spiti, the minister said under the Poshan Abhiyaan, 537 beneficiaries were covered in 2025-26. Three Ayush health centres in Spiti have been upgraded to Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, while land acquisition for new centres at Chichong, Chicham and Hurling is in its final stage.
He added that under the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School Scheme, Rs 1.32 crore each has been sanctioned for schools in Keylong and Darcha, with construction expected to begin in 2026-27. The horticulture department distributed over 8,474 fruit plants benefiting 197 farmers, while the e-Udyan portal has been launched for online access to schemes.
