All 10 Assembly election guarantees fulfilled: Himachal Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma

Leopard hide and other items confiscated Tribune News Service Solan, April 15 Acting on a tip-off, the Rapid Response Team of the Paonta Sahib Forest Division in Sirmaur recovered a leopard hide and other parts of the animal highly valued in the market from the house of one Akhtar Ali, a resident of Ghuttanpur village in Majra forest range this morning. Other items recovered by the officials include whiskers , three pairs of horns of Ghoral, 2 pairs of antlers of barking deer and paws of leopard whose nails had been removed. These items had been concealed in the roof of the house. Apart from this, three empty cartridges and sharp edged weapon used to chop flesh along with other such items were also recovered by the raiding team hinting towards an organised illicit trade of wild life items. The team led by Assistant Conservator of Forests(ACF), Paonta Sahib ,Aditya Sharma comprised Range Forest Officers Surendar Sharma and Sachin Sharma besides the field functionaries. Two persons-Akhtar Ali and Saddam Hussain were arrested in this case for violation of sections 39, 40(2), 49C(7) punishable under section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972. The district-level Himachal Day celebration was organised with great enthusiasm and dignity at the Police Ground in Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti district on Wednesday. The event was presided over by Ayush, Youth Services and Sports and Law Minister Yadvinder Goma, who unfurled the national flag and took the salute of an impressive march past presented by various contingents.

Addressing a gathering, the minister paid tributes to the leaders of the Prajamandal movement, freedom fighters and all those who contributed to the formation of the state, as well as to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation.

Goma said over the past three years, the state government had been working with a vision of systemic transformation aimed at development and public welfare. He emphasised that despite limited resources and repeated natural disasters between 2023 and 2025, the government provided enhanced relief packages to affected families.

He also noted that all 10 guarantees made during the Assembly elections have been fulfilled, including the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for 1.36 lakh employees and the launch of the Rs 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Startup Scheme to promote self-reliance among youth. Focusing on Lahaul-Spiti, the minister said under the Poshan Abhiyaan, 537 beneficiaries were covered in 2025-26. Three Ayush health centres in Spiti have been upgraded to Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, while land acquisition for new centres at Chichong, Chicham and Hurling is in its final stage.

He added that under the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School Scheme, Rs 1.32 crore each has been sanctioned for schools in Keylong and Darcha, with construction expected to begin in 2026-27. The horticulture department distributed over 8,474 fruit plants benefiting 197 farmers, while the e-Udyan portal has been launched for online access to schemes.
