The programme was presided over by health worker Anjali, who addressed the gathering and emphasised the critical importance of the first six years of a child’s life. She explained that this period is vital for both physical and mental development, and that proper care, balanced nutrition and access to health services during these formative years lay a strong foundation for a child’s future.
Highlighting the significance of the first 1,000 days — from pregnancy to a child’s second birthday — Anjali described this phase as the most sensitive and crucial for growth and development. She stressed that during this time, both mother and child require nutritious food, regular health check-ups and proper care to prevent malnutrition and related health issues. — TNS
