Area under bridge stinks in Una
The area under the bridge on the main highway near the Una bus stand stinks as local shopkeepers use the space to answer the nature’s call. The road below the bridge connects the Jeevan market with the main parts of the city; and is frequented by pedestrians and two-wheeler riders. The civic authorities seldom clean the area. One can see wild growth dotting the highway retaining walls. — Rajesh, Una
Demand for heli-taxis
The road leading to Kinnaur and Shimla has been blocked following landslides triggered by heavy rain and snow. It is impossible to travel to Rampur, Shimla and Kinnaur in case of an emergency. There is a dire need to start the heli-taxi service so that patients can be airlifted. We are running a school with a strength of over 1,000 students and when the roads are blocked, it becomes difficult to provide medical aid to them. Moreover, students hailing from Kinnaur are stuck in the school as the roads are blocked. — Kamal Chand, Jhakri
Toilets at HRTC bus stands in bad shape
In Himachal, most buses are run by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). Though the condition of buses is not that bad, toilets at HRTC bus stands are pathetic. One wonders if these are ever cleaned. Most people avoid using the toilets. The authorities should maintain these as it dents the image of the state. — Arvind Sharma, Dharamsala
