The walls of the waiting hall and conference area near the Deputy Commissioner’s office will soon showcase the art and culture of Himachal Pradesh, featuring state-of-the-art oil paintings created by students from the Fine Arts Department of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamsala.

A total of 15 oil paintings, depicting the religious, cultural and traditional heritage of all districts in the state, will be installed on the walls of the waiting hall near the DC office. The installation process was overseen by Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh, who provided instructions on the installation process yesterday.

Amarjit Singh said the entire DC office building was in need of renovation as the structure had suffered damage. Some walls had developed cracks, while dampness from seepage had damaged the plaster in other areas. He also mentioned that the floors in certain rooms were damaged.

He highlighted that the paintings showcase the diverse traditional attire worn by the people of Himachal Pradesh, reflecting the varying weather conditions and religious practices. Additionally, the artworks depict the scenic beauty of the hills, valleys and meadows, and are sure to capture the attention of the visitors.

The 3x6-ft paintings have already started attracting attention, with people observing them with curiosity. Additional District Magistrate Rahul Chauhan, Assistant Commissioner to the DC, Aprajita Chandel, and students from the CHUP were also present during the installation of the paintings.
