Mandi, May 22
Ram Singh, state vice president of the BJP, said that the allegations levelled by Congress nominee Ashray Sharma against the state government and the Election Commission were baseless.
Ashray had alleged misuse of power by the state government to ensure victory of the BJP candidate from Mandi. At the same time, Ashray had also alleged that the Election Commission was biased and in favour of the BJP.
Addressing a press conference here today, Ram Singh said that “the reaction of Ashray after polling on May 19 reflects his restlessness because he has realised that the mandate of people was in favour of the BJP”.
This is not for the first time that Seraj Assembly segment witnessed such a heavy polling. In the last Assembly segments in 2017, the Seraj had witnessed over 86% polling to elect Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur from Mandi district. Similarly, this time, over 81% polling was observed.
