In sharp contrast, the budget session of the Vidhan Sabha concluding on a cordial note and both Chief Minster Jai Ram Thakur and Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri lamented departure from traditions and laid down norms of the house.
After the budget proposals for 2019-20 were passed by the house today, Chief Minister thanked the Speaker, MLAs and officials for the smooth conduct of the session. “Despite the session being curtailed we were able to take up a lot of business but what hurt me was the manner in which Congress members left the house without hearing me during the reply on the Governor’s address and budget debate, which is against the laid down norms of this house,” he remarked.
He also pointed out towards the walkout by the Opposition despite the time for the guillotine being fixed for the passing of the budget. “I strongly feel that we must uphold the high traditions of this house and for this Virbhadra Singh must guide his party MLAs,” he said.
Agnihotri reminded the Chief Minister that he had forgotten the behvaiour of the BJP legislators in the past when they obstructed the house for 22 days at a stretch. — TNS
