There seems to be little respite from cold wave sweeping the state as the government today issued as advisory against snow and avalanches, particularly in Manali, Udaipur, Killar, Chamba, Spiti, Kinnaur and Banjar area of Kullu.
The Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) in its bulletin has advised locals as well as tourists not to venture out in the snow-bound areas. The district administrative authorities have been put on alert to meet any eventuality. They have been asked to convey bad weather warning to all grassroot functionaries and residents.
As per the weather forecast by the local Meteorological Centre, another fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from February 12. The lowest temperature was recorded at Keylong at -11.6°C and the highest temperature was recorded at Una at 21.8°C. Shimla recorded a low of 2.5°C and high of 11.9°C.
As per forecast, the middle and high hills are likely to experience snow and rain from tomorrow while the state will reel under severe cold wave. Most higher reaches of the state, including the tribal districts of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti, Bharmour, Manali, Rohtang, Dalhousie, Shimla and Dharamsala have been receiving frequents spells of snow this year.
