After the successful final trial on the Pathankot-Jogindernagar line, the Railway Board has initiated preparations for the restoration of rail services. The railway coaches are being sent to the workshop at Kalka for repairs.
On Saturday last, seven coaches were coupled with an engine and dispatched from Baijnath to Pathankot. They will be sent onward to Kalka for maintenance work. Earlier, 25 railway coaches had already reached the Pathankot rail yard after undergoing repairs at Kalka.
Railway Safety Commissioner, Dinesh Deshwal will conduct the final trial of the railway track from Pathankot to Baijnath tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Kangra MP Rajiv Bhardwaj expressed satisfaction over the strong possibility of train services starting soon, possibly next month. He added that he had already discussed passengers’ concerns with the railway authorities for the early restoration of train services between Pathankot and Jogindernagar.
