Jamrela, a village of 500 residents, in Baijnath, 30 kilometre from here, has been cut off with the state following cave-in of a link road during heavy rain.
Now, there is no way to reach the village situated on the hilltop.
Villagers said the road was repaired recently but because of the poor quality of construction, it was damaged. Since it has become difficult to go out of the village, particularly for the aged and schoolchildren, the villagers have installed a bamboo stairscase to serve their purpose, but it is fraught with risks.
Talking to this correspondent who visited the village using the stairs, a number of villagers stated that the local MLA and district administration were well-versed with their problem but none had come for their help. They alleged that the local leaders had visited the village only during the elections, since then none had turned up. Sanjay Sharma, a social worker, also visited the village and assured them of assistance.
