“Imposing a ban on MLA Local Area Development funds is dictatorship, murder of democracy and a cruel betrayal of people,” said Barsar MLA Indra Dutt Lakhanpal here today. He added that the decision was not the result of any economic compulsion but exposed the dictatorial, undemocratic and completely anti-people mindset of a government steeped in the arrogance of power.

He said that the MLA funds were not a political grant but a lifeline for small but extremely essential development works for common people. “Imposing a ban on these funds is a direct attack on the rights of villagers, poor, farmers, laborers, youth and women. If the state is facing an economic crisis, the Chief Minister himself is responsible, not the people of the state,” he added.
