As flames erupted from all sides and thick smoke filled the corridors, panic set in. His parents, clutching their infant and desperately trying to escape, ran for their lives. In the chaos, terrified by the advancing fire, Himanshu broke away and hid inside a bathroom, believing it would save him.
That moment sealed his fate. Unaware of where their son had gone, his father Rakesh and mother searched frantically after reaching safety. When they could not find Himanshu, they approached local MLA Sanjay Awasthi, who was present at the scene. A rescue operation was immediately launched. Hours later, around 7 am, rescuers recovered the child’s charred body from the bathroom.
Himanshu succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to hospital. The family, migrant workers from Bihar, had come to Arki hoping for a better life. Instead, they were left with an unbearable loss that words cannot heal.
