Bilaspur district emerged as the overall champion while Shimla stood second at the State-level Judo Competition (cadet category), organised by the Shimla District Judo Association, affiliated to the HP State Judo Organisation, at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Shimla. Around 250 participants from across the state participated in the competition, which concluded today.

In the boys’ category, Dixit from Bilaspur stood first in 66-kg weight category while Yash Suman from Shimla secured the second position.

Ritesh and Lakir Chanderi from Solan stood third.

In the 60-kg weight category, Aryan from Bilaspur stood first, Abhay from Shimla second, while Gaurav from Solan and Saksham from Shimla stood third.

In the 55-kg weight category, Shicam Sharma from Bilaspur stood first, Shivam from Shimla second, while Nikhil from Hamirpur and Sonik from Sirmaur stood third.

In the girls’ category, Bilaspur’s Prajwal and Drishti were first and second, respectively, while Shimla’s Sakshi and Hamirpur’s Sandali were third in the 52-kg weight category.

In the 48-kg weight category, Bilaspur’s Ipshita and Tanuja stood first and second, respectively, while Una’s Kajal and Hamirpur’s Arshita stood third.

In the 40-kg weight category, Hamirpur’s Kritika stood first, Shimla’s Neena second, while Shimla’s Diryanksha and Uachana were third.

Shimla (Urban) MLA Harish Janartha, as the chief guest at the event, congratulated the participants and emphasised the importance of such competitions in keeping children away from substance abuse, and reducing their dependence on mobile phones.
