Bilaspur district has bagged the first prize of Rs 50 lakh in the Himachal Pradesh District Good Governance Index annual report-2019 by scoring 75.8 per cent in the index comprising seven themes, 18 focus subjects and 45 indicators. Mandi district has bagged the second prize of Rs 35 lakh by securing 70.2 per cent and Hamirpur the third prize of Rs 25 lakh by securing 64.5 per cent.
On the behalf of the district, DC Rajeshwar Goel received the first prize, DC, Mandi, Rugved Thakur received second prize and DC, Hamirpur, Harikesh Meena received the third prize from Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today on the occasion of releasing of the HP District Good Governance Index (HPDGGI) Annual Report-2019. This document has been prepared by the Department of Economic & Statistics.
The Chief Minister said the government was committed to using information technology to usher in an era of e-governance aimed at simplifying processes, bringing in transparency, accountability, providing need-based information to all citizens.
Thakur said the efforts in respect to governance were also recognized by the Public Affairs Centre, Bengaluru, and Himachal Pradesh was the first among 12 small states consistently in 2017 and 2018 and second in 2019 on the Public Affairs Index (PAI).
Hamirpur district on third spot
Hamirpur: The district has bagged the third position in the state in the District Good Governance Index-19. The award was given by Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister, in Shimla today. Harikesh Meena, DC, received a citation and Rs 25 lakh on behalf of the district. The award was given due to sincere efforts of all officials of the district administration. Thakur said there was always a scope for improvement. tns
