Mandi, April 24

BJP candidate from Mandi Ram Swaroop Sharma filed his nomination papers today.

He was accompanied by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, BJP state in charge for Lok Sabha Tirath Singh Rawat, Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur, BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti and former Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal. He submitted his nomination to District Returning Officer, Mandi, Rugved Thakur. A procession was taken out by the BJP candidate as a show of strength.

Ram Swaroop targeted the senior Congress leader, former Telecom Minister Pandit Sukh Ram. Addressing a public meeting at Seri Manch in the town, the MP lambasted the former telecom minister and termed him corrupt and vicious.

The MP stated that Sukh Ram had cheated the people of Mandi district and opposed Karam Singh of Mandi. As a result, YS Parmar had become the first Chief Minister.

“Sukh Ram is infamous for corruption. The people of Mandi will give him a befitting reply in these elections. It is not the contest between Congress candidate Ashray Sharma and Ram Swaroop. It is a direct contest between Ram Swaroop and Sukh Ram because he wants to see his grandson as Congress MP from the Mandi seat,” he added.

He targeted former Power Minister Anil Sharma, father of Ashray Sharma, by saying that, “One of our BJP MLAs is missing. Anil should give advice to his son and father rather than giving advice to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.” He urged the voters to support him.

Satti also targeted Sukh Ram, apart from lambasting the Congress leadership at the Centre. He said during the Congress regime, Sonia Gandhi had acted as ‘Sheronvali Mata’, as she forced PM Manmohan Singh to act according to her directions. BSP candidate Ses Ram filed his nomination from Mandi. He also held a procession in the town and later submitted his nomination to the District Returning Officer. The third nomination was filed by Dharmender Singh Thakur as an Independent candidate. Congress candidate Ashray Sharma will file his nomination On Thursday.
