Congress today said the BJP was resorting to misinformation campaign to defame Himachal government with an eye on the Assembly polls being held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

Addressing a press conference here today, Chief Media Advisor to Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan said since the Congress formed its government in Himachal, efforts are been made to increase revenue. “It is unbecoming of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to comment that Himachal government has failed to pay salary to its employees. This is factually incorrect and such statements are being made only for electoral gains,” he remarked.

He said misinformation was being spread by BJP leaders, including PM Modi, about the Himachal government with an eye on the elections . “Only yesterday the PM, in his social media message, said the Himachal government does not even have money to pay salary to its employees. This is very unfortunate as this is far from truth,” he said adding that BJP leaders from Himachal were responsible for misleading its leadership.

Chauhan said four per cent DA had been issued to all government employees and pensioners and salaries were disbursed on October 28. The arrears of pensioners above the age of 75 years have been released.

He said Himachal was a hill state which must be given relief by the Centre as the country had a federal structure. “Such factually wrong statements by the PM are very unfortunate and hurt the sentiments of the people,” he said. He alleged that the Centre has not provided any financial assistance to Himachal or the Rs 9200 crore damages suffered during last monsoons.

“The Chief Minister has resolved to improve the financial health of the state for which he took some harsh steps. The economy is on a recovery path and the positive results are visible,” he said. He accused the BJP of launching Operation Lotus to bring about the collapse of Congress regime in Himachal which was defeated by people.
