Even as workers expressed concern over the rise in petrol and diesel prices, the state executive of the BJP has prepared a roadmap to ensure that the party retains control over all four Lok Sabha seats that it had own in the 2014 polls.

The top brass of the party held a two-day brain-storming session to chalk out the party’s strategy for the upcoming parliamentary polls. A political resolution was passed during the meeting which highlighted the achievements of both BJP-led Modi regime at the Centre and the Jai Ram government in Himachal.

The meet was attended by all senior leaders, including national organisational secretary Ram Lal, state BJP in-charge Mangal Pandey, CM Jai Ram Thakur, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, former CMs PK Dhumal and Shanta Kumar, state BJP president Satpal Singh Satti, MPs, ministers, MLAs and party functionaries.

Addressing the top brass of the BJP, Ram Lal urged workers to put up a united show to repeat the 2014 Lok Sabha performance. “The party is united and there is prefect coordination between the party and the government, which will yield good results in the parliamentary polls,” he said.

Lauding the Himachal model of strengthening the party at the booth level, Ram Lal said the experiment had been successful in the 2017 Assembly polls and was being replicated in other states. “The BJP has desisted from indulging in politics of appeasement as for the party, India is one,” he said.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said the Modi regime had approved several projects worth Rs 6,500 crore for Himachal in nine months. “The BJP-led NDA regime has been sympathetic towards the problems faced by Himachal and our genuine demands have been accepted,” he said.

Thakur said his government had initiated several pro-people schemes and an effort had been made to bring administration close to the people. “If, while being in the opposition, we could win all four Lok Sabha seats, I see no reason why we should not be able to repeat the feat when now we are in power,” he said.

Later addressing the media, Randhir Sharma, former MLA and chief spokesperson, detailed the roadmap prepared by the party for Lok Sabha polls. “Various party programmes have begun from September 17 and will carry on till January 30. Padyatras in each segment and gram pramukh sammelans in all Lok Sabha segments in the first week of October and later at the mandal level will be held,” he stated. A run for unity would be held on October 31.
