Taking the fight over the non-rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ from Vidhan Sabha to the streets, BJP Legislature Party will sing the national song before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on Ridge here on Sunday.

BJP Legislature Party also sought the video clip of the proceedings of the House on the inaugural day of the Assembly on August 21 from the Vidhan Sabha Secretary to set the record straight and dismiss the Congress’s accusations. The BJP legislators also lodged their protest by staging a dharna on the floor outside the office of Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania in the Vidhan Sabha, urging him to run the House.

“It is our right to seek the video clip and, if need be, BJP will even knock on the doors of the Raj Bhavan as well as the high court to get it. The CM and the Congress are trying to create a false impression that BJP insulted Vande Mataram, which is totally unacceptable,” Thakur said. “It is very strange and unheard of for the ruling party to raise slogans and then leave the House as if staging a walkout, without any provocation from our side,” he added.

LoP Thakur said the BJP legislators had met the Speaker to request him to play the video clip of Friday’s Assembly proceedings in the House to ascertain the veracity of the Congress’s allegations of BJP insulting the national anthem. “It appears that the CM, ministers and ruling MLAs did not want the House to run, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for the second day,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dharamsala MLA Sudhir Sharma has given notice for a breach of privilege against some officials to the Speaker for allegedly harassing him in connection with a case registered against him while the Assembly session was on.
