The BJP believes in divisive politics and it has failed to ensure development in the state, said HPCC president Pratibha Singh while addressing a workers conference here today.

She said that it were Congress governments that brought development to the state. “BJP leaders only make fake statements and claims and inaugurate development projects that were initiated by Congress governments. The work on the Rohtang tunnel was started when Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister. In 2014, four medical colleges were announced with a financial assistance of Rs 200 crore to each college when Ghulam Nabi Azad was Union Health Minister.
She said that the Congress always respects women and it was Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who reserved 50 per cent seats for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions. The present NDA government had failed to keep the promise of providing jobs to youth and controlling inflation.
The Agnipath scheme will prove disastrous for national security, she alleged.
Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of the Opposition, said that the BJP was a sinking ship and which was why senior government officers were shifting to secure positions. He added the Chief Secretary had applied for the post of Chief Information Commissioner, the DGP had also planned to move out and the Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister was also trying to secure a position.
He said, “BJP leaders cannot run away from the promises they had made to come to power,” he added.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, chairman of the Congress Campaign Committee, said that the district was ignored due to differences between former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and Jai Ram Thakur.
