The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly concluded its Budget session with an impressive productivity of 103 per cent, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said on Thursday. The session, conducted in two phases, comprised a total of 16 sittings and lasted approximately 90 hours.
Providing a detailed overview, the Speaker said the first phase of the session was held from February 16 to 18, followed by the second phase from March 18 to April 2. During the session, the government responded to 617 questions raised by members, including 471 starred and 146 unstarred queries, reflecting active legislative engagement.
The House also witnessed discussions under multiple procedural rules, including four matters under Rule 61, two under Rule 62 and one each under Rules 67, 101, 130 and 324. Additionally, 94 issues were taken up during Zero Hour, indicating a broad range of concerns addressed by legislators.
Apart from discussions, nine government Bills were introduced and passed, while 60 committee reports were presented during the session.
The Speaker acknowledged the cooperation extended by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, crediting their support for the smooth conduct of proceedings.
