Bus service restored on Udaipur-Keylong route
The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has restored its bus service between Udaipur and Keylong that was disrupted on February 5 due to heavy snowfall in the region, leaving residents to rely on expensive taxi services for transportation. However, after a rapid snow clearance operation by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on the Tandi-Udaipur road, the HRTC resumed bus services yesterday, much to the relief of the local population.
The restoration of the Udaipur-Keylong bus route is expected to provide affordable transportation options for the residents of the region. Prior to this, the locals had to rely on costly private taxis, which often made travel unaffordable for many families. With the resumption of the bus service, travel between Udaipur and Keylong has become easier and more economical for those living in the remote valleys of Lahaul.
While the restoration of the Udaipur-Keylong route has brought relief, efforts are still underway to resume the bus service between Keylong and Manali. The Keylong-Manali bus service was also halted due to heavy snowfall on February 5. However, the BRO had cleared the snow from the Keylong-Manali road, with the goal of reopening the route. Initially, the resumption of the Keylong-Manali service was scheduled for today, but fresh snowfall near Atal Tunnel last night has delayed the process. HRTC officials have assured that the bus service between Keylong and Manali will be restored soon, likely within the next one to two days.
The residents of the Lahaul valley have been eagerly awaiting the restoration of this crucial bus service. The resumption of the Keylong-Manali route is vital for connectivity in the region, as it connects Lahaul to the rest of Himachal Pradesh. Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana has directed the HRTC authorities to ensure the convenience of the residents.
