Chamba college holds yuva sansad

Government Degree College, Chamba, on Friday hosted Viksit Bharat Yuva Sansad and Yuva Connect under the aegis of Yuva Bharat, Chamba, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS).

Principal, Prof Rakesh Rathore, was the chief guest. During the competition, Anoop Rahi, Dr Shelly Mahajan, Dr Parnita Gurdal and Dr Sachin Thakur served as judges.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Rathore said, “Viksit Bharat Yuva Sansad 2026 is a national platform that promotes youth leadership, policy awareness and democratic debate.”

He stated that the forum enables young people from across the country to share their ideas and deliberate on real policies and reforms. The objective of the programme, he added, was to sensitise youth towards democratic values, nation-building process and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, while nurturing their leadership abilities.

During the Yuva Connect session young participants were acquainted with the experiences of successful personalities. Youth icons Ankita Sharma and Nitin Sharma, who had participated in the Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue-2026, talked about their journey and encouraged students to adopt a positive mindset, develop leadership skills and actively contribute to national development.

During the event, participants presented their views in a speech competition on the topic ‘50 Years of Emergency - Lessons for Indian Democracy’. District Youth Officer Vivek Kumar said the theme encouraged young representatives to reflect on an important phase of history and deliberate on the significance of democratic values, the Constitution and citizens’ rights.

The competition results were announced with Aditi Thakur securing the first position, followed by Vivek Thakur in the second spot, Tamanna third, Arpit Jaryal fourth and Radhika fifth. All five participants have been selected to represent the district at the state-level competition to be held at Gaiety Theatre.
