Chamba, October 16
Chamba Welfare Association, a registered NGO of the district, has reiterated its demand of setting up a bird watcher park around the historical Suhi Mata temple, situated near the top of the hill at Raj Naun.
In a letter sent to Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania, association president AK Bhardwaj said a proposal to set up the bird watcher park was submitted to the Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), Chamba, in 2013, but unfortunately, nothing had been done till now.
The matter was also taken up with Thakur Singh, when he was the Forest Minister. He had ordered the CCF to do the needful, but till now, the authorities had neither replied nor taken any initiative in this regard, Bhardwaj said.
He requested Pathania to order the officials concerned to set up the park around Suhi Mata temple which is a symbol of Rani Sunaina of the erstwhile Chamba state, who sacrificed her life for solving the water problem of Chamba.
